Keyword: close. That means you didn’t actually make it, so clearly you shouldn’t have gotten in unless there was a mixup or a huge problem with their application process.

I'm assuming OP means their calculated grades were very close to their offer, and that they think they could've gotten in if they had sat the exams.

Surely then they can take the exams this November? Didn’t realise they could have meant it like that, the whole A-Levels thing has completely slipped my mind, but I think unis have been told to honour their offers if they get the grades in the new exams? I think the best idea is to ring the uni, and they should be able to advise OP on what to do next. Good luck anyways!

But wouldn't they have to re-apply if they resit? Not guaranteed they'll get an offer again (especially since this was posted in the forum for Oxford uni)

Murky waters here, this A-Level mess is too unorganised. The IDEA was that you’re supposed to be able to not have to reapply I think, but most unis aren’t waiting around... if OP was close, it might be worth going to another good uni if they do have to reapply, rather than taking a year off. Besides they were close enough for Oxford so they should be fine with their other unis! Either way, it’s a tough year, fingers crossed for you OP.

I was doing the EB and we didn't do exams and so they just took points off our grade (only to some of us), so I was a few little points off the grade I needed for my firm. I am 95% certain I would have gotten the grade in normal circumstances and I was thinking of reapplying to Oxford as well. But thanks anyway haha!
