I'm an 18 years old who earn £7 per hour (also aspiring to become independent) During holidays I'm pretty much free. I was looking forward to earning some extra money and working twice a week because during college I only get to work once every other saturday. What I found extremely confusing is that I wasn't given twice a week this time round. I was only given to work once a week and this staff member who hasn't even turned 18 yet gets to work more hours than me. Like how is that even possible. Most part time employees work at least 10 hours per week minimum whereas I only work 6 hours a week, although I am very much capable to do more hours. And it's really frustrating that a 17 year old gets more hours than me. when summer holidays is over its not even 6 hours a week anymore, it's 6 hours per every two weeks and I'm widely dissatisfied. It's already hard enough getting a job as it is.

Have you spoken to your boss about getting more hours? Maybe speak to them again.
I know the job market isn't the best at the moment but maybe look for other jobs, even if it's just a temporary one alongside the one you have.
