I know this may annoy some of you..

However I watched a clip of Pete Doherty when he was younger. He was asked what he thought of Oasis and he said...

Pete says "i subscribe to the Umberto Eco view that Noel Gallagher is a poet and Liam's a town crier"

I really don't understand that at all..i know he is a philosopher (Umberto) but hmmm? It is really bugging me. Cheers x

Pete Doherty has mastered the art of namedropping and clouding over concepts to appear cleverer than he actually is.

At best, I think he simply means that Noel is the real talent in writing terms, and that Liam is the modern 'town crier' - ie, the ideal frontman.

Yeah, and i agree 100%. Noel's a brit-pop-bethoven.

To be fair, it's been proved they don't need Liam. That spell he spent in jail? They were just as brilliant.
