Been having symptoms since the start of the year that gradually became more noticeable like headaches, fatigue, muscle pain and general weakness and and am 99% sure it is a vitamin or iron deficiency. I've had to wait almost a month now but at least I will finally have a blood test this Thursday.

I wanna know how long it usually takes for the results to come? I assume that if I do have a deficiency or something else is wrong the GP would contact me quicker. I'm just worried that because of COVID everything would take longer and I just hope to have something done quicker since school is starting soon and I don't want my illness to affect it.

You should phone up within 7 days usually after it was taking, some GP practices say two to three days which would be Monday or Tuesday , and if the results are too low then the GP or practice receptionist will contact you as soon as the lab contact your GP and will advice you what to do next. Obviously if its too low you may be put on course of iron tablets for xxxxx amount of time depending on the GP really.
Every GP surgery tell you different time to phone up like but I have known GP to have them back within few days as been there myself with this problem.
Ask nurse when you should phone up for results ok and she will tell you this.
You be probably okay time you restart school and I don't think you'll be missing school through it either . You should had went earlier to GP as if its been like that for almost 8 months then I certainly wouldn't had waited to now.
Things seems to be on with getting results back dispite covid19 .

Ah what a thorough and helpful reply - thank you!

Yeah I definitely should not have waited too long but i first felt the tiredness and headaches in january but they went away in a few days. It didn't start up again until May and I did have a lot of telephone consultations but all they really did was refer me to the headache specialist and prescribe migraine tablets which made it seem like they were unsure what was wrong. Only after I suggested I take a blood test did they order me one. Couple that with my parents being very unsupportive and dismissive of my unwellness as 'stress' and 'lack of sleep' even though symptoms continued for like 2 months it's been very difficult

Most blood tests results are back within 48hours but if your having them done on the Thursday you probably won’t be able to get the results until the Monday. There are a few special blood tests that take 5 days but the GP would have told you if you were having those and I doubt you would be having those for your symptoms. When you have your bloods taken ask the person when they think you’ll be able to get the results and then phone the GP at that time.

Monday would be fine for me to be honest. As long as it doesn't take too long seeing as school starts in 2 weeks.

Yeah I was convinced it was just anxiety or depression due to how terrible this year has gone, but when it got worse I became pretty sure it was some sort of deficiency.
