Well the previous successes at starting Selwyn threads had inspired me to start another one (you would think I'd have learned by now...)
Anyway, all you Selwyn applicants make your voices heard! What did you think about the college/interview/lecturers/food etc..? Good luck for the results and enjoy ur Christmas and New Year
I was at Selwyn for my Modern Greek interview with Dr Holton. I thought it was such a lovely college! Really pretty! Kind of makes me wish I'd have applied there now...
I stayed there for my Land Economy interview on the 2nd. Seemed nice enough, but the room (B block i think, ground floor) wasnt all that great, but if its a cheap four walls and a roof, im fine. Impressed with the dining hall, and its good being just outside the centre of town. id be happy if they're mad enough to take me....

Hey, looks like we crossed one another! I was there on the 2nd too, and considering we were 7 computer scientists and 12 or so land economists, we were probably sitting next to one another at lunch!
I had never been or even seen Selwyn College before, I applied because I felt it was the best place to be...when I arrived, I was really impressed; I really enjoyed my stay, although I found it a bit strange that I was placed in a "house" a few minutes away from the college;I felt a bit out of place cos it was as if I was intruding in someone elses house. In any case, the whole experience was really good: breakfast, lunch, interviews etc. I basically fell in love with the place as I entered.
My interview consisted of 1 exam (TSA), one general interview with Dr Keeler, and 2 technical interviews, one for the Natural Sciences and one for Computer Science. The first one went reaaaallly well, and I quite enjoyed it. The second one went "not too bad,but not great" and the third one was *dire*, simply because the guy threw all these Comp Sci questions at me despite the fact they require "no prior knowledge". To be honest I doubt I got in (isnt this the general feeling we all have), though I can't say the whole lot went bad. I read their decision isn't based solely on the interview. There are 5 factors to take into account : - GCSE's - AS - Predicted Alevel grades - Reference - Interview (including exam)
I feel confident for half the categories, not so much for the rest...hence impossible to tell what the outcome will be. good luck with all you Selwynian applicants!
Selwyn is a lovely college: small and pretty physically, but big in terms of friendliness and community. I wouldn't swap it for any other college. Well done to people who have received offers!
