Im stuck on 2 b ii The very last part

Can somebody please explain why we do not add the volumes together when calculating the pressure? thanks

You don't add the volumes as, you are adding gas, to a fixed volume container. You are adding more gas to a space, not increasing the space the gas is occupying. Does that help?
