I have been offered a place at Swansea university through clearing and will be on the Bay campus. I was wondering if somebody could tell me about student life there, in particular:
Nightlife, things to do, cost of living and how Swansea and the local area is like in general

Hi there,

Congrats on your place at Swansea!

So I'm sure some current students will jump on this thread if they see it. If not we have our unibuddy chat where you can chat to current students and I'm sure they'll be able to give you a great insight into what it's like to be a student on Bay: https://www.swansea.ac.uk/study/stud...bassador-chat/

This link is quite a good insight into life on campus: https://www.swansea.ac.uk/life-on-campus/

We also have our student guide that you can access here: .pdf]https://www.swansea.ac.uk/media/Student-Guide-to-Swansea-[English-Sept-19].pdf

Thanks,

Beth

Hi!
Congrats on your offer at Swansea! I’m a current student at Swansea! Bay campus is a lovely campus which has its own private beach! It also has a Tesco, pub, canteen and Santander bank. Over 2000 students call bay campus home so there is always people around.
Whilst the campus is 2 miles out of Swansea (a bus pass is a must) there are frequent bus services into town and to the other campus that leave from the campus and the road. In town there are shops such as superdry, boots, Superdrug, Pandora, Disney and primark. Right next to the bus station is Tesco which is super handy for food shopping!
Wind street is the place to be for nights out and is where the majority of students go on student nights!
If you want to join a society there are plenty to choose from, over 100 I believe. So there is bound to be something to interest you!
Swansea is a fairly cost effective place to live and if you get the mytravelpass from the welsh government you even get discounted bus travel which makes living costs even cheaper.

What subject will you be studying?

Hello,
Thank you for your insight. I think I will definitely apply for the travel pass and the student-led activities look awesome. I will be studying EEE.

I was wondering if you could share your perspective on the teaching and how it has been during the lockdown, as I have read some reviews online that there are some lecturers in the engineering dept. that isn't very helpful ( I know that online reviews aren't a reliable source of unbiased information but it is something that I have been wondering about).

Also with regards to study spaces, do students on Bay campus have access to study facilities in other areas: study levels at the management school or computer labs in the computational foundry.
