Introduce yourself
Hello, I'm a hoodlum and I am planning on delving into a career in the environmental sector hopefully through a degree apprenticeship.

What are your hobbies/interests?
I hold a deep interest in animals but more specifically how they interact with their environment. As you can tell by my profile picture I also have a deep interest in Marvel.

What are you currently studying?
I'm currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Geography.

What grades do you hope to achieve?
I honestly have never throughout my time in education set goals for what grades I wish to achieve as I feel it will only lead to disappointment. I work hard and hope my efforts are repaid through decent grades I can be happy with and that's all I expect.

If applicable, what universities/courses are you applying for?
The plan is to do a level 6 degree apprenticeship in environmental science. My other options are to study either environmental science or ecology at uni. These uni's could either be Kingston or Surrey. Not sure really.

Thinking about a gap year?
Nope.

What are your goals for the future?
This is where things get confusing for me because I've struggled to think this far ahead. I would very much like to have a job in which my agree can be applied but I'm really not sure. Maybe toxicology?

How are you feeling about this year?

I feel as though this year, for me at least, will be a big contrast to Year 12 as I don't think I can afford to slack off or get lazy at any point. This year has to be a no bs year where I'm sticking to schedules and doing all I can to get my deserved grades. At the same time though I still want to be able to enjoy my last year at a school I've gone to since I was in education. (My school has a primary, secondary school and a sixth form.)

How is everyone feeling about the 2021 exams and year 13? Do you think our exams will be delayed?
I don’t think they’ll be delayed and I kinda hope they aren’t as I am looking forward to a long summer  but I hope they make some changes as I, like many others, have struggled with self teaching during lockdown

Welcome to the Current Year 13 Chat Thread :gah:

Time flies doesn't it? :flybye: Seems like we were only in Y12 a minute ago!
It's going to be an interesting year for sure, but here's a space for rants and revision tips, help and support, we're all here for you :yep:

Soooo... time for some icebreakers: answer as many or few as you want!

We've got this :rave:
Hey guys, I'm Ruby! I love reading, finding cool pictures for my corkboards, researching about autism/sharks (ik weird combo) and babysitting my 1yo sister
I'm currently studying Maths, Psychology, Biology and an EPQ on autism diagnosis in girls. I have NO idea what grades I'll get bc I'm currently a B student but got a string of 9s at GCSE so we'll see I guess...
I'm thinking of studying at Southampton, Swansea, Glasgow or Hull, and I don't think I want a gap year (it's hard, I don't want to be at home anymore but the uni research process in lockdown has been rubbish too).

I have no idea what I want to be, may become an academic just from fear of leaving school hehehe... Hopefully I'll be a neuroscientist or environmentalist.

This year is gonna be so busy and hectic, but I feel as ready as I can be. Is it just me, or is the slightly colder weather really motivating for studying? Maybe I'm just really bored this summer.
My main hope is that I don't burn out next year, but I'm learning to put my wellbeing before my grades so I think I'll be okay.

My name -> am Beth.
My subjects -> am studying geography, geology and chemistry.
My interests -> are sailing (hence the username), geography, playing musical instruments - all be it badly, kayaking and reading.
University -> I want to study geography at university. Either Lancaster, Chester, Edinburgh (Uo), Sheffield (Uo), Bangor
Gap year -> yes but hopefully after uni not before and I already have some plans.
Future plans -> work in natural disaster management with my degree. And become a dinghy instructor
Feelings about this year -> scared very scared, especially about chemistry because it's my weakest subject. I am also really stresses and worried because the remote learning didn't work for me

I know it’s weird isn’t it... I didn’t realise you had to select it as a different a level entirely on the ucas application 🤪
