GCSE Grades(if you would like to share them): 11 9s
Are you satisfied with your grades? Yes! My self-sabotaging tendencies for self-critique cannot find a tenable reason for complaint with those...
What subjects are you studying for A-Levels/BTECs: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Literature, EPQ - predicted A*A*A*AA*
How are you feeling about starting Year 12? Fantastic! I am enamoured with the course content in each of my subjects
Any plans for the next year? Nothing other than revising!
Any plans made yet for what you will do after A-Levels/BTECs? Medical school! Not to evoke any fatalistic notions, but, cambridge/imperial MBBS/PhD!
How was Year 11 for you? Tumultuous, but my effort and industry paid off!
Any hobbies/interests? Writing and reading - particularly in the classics & philosophy
How was your lockdown? I consider myself a hermit, albeit that is fundementally from a point of great privilege, the migration to lockdown has been smooth.

Hi everyone! I’m new to TSR but happy to be joining this thread!

GCSEs
So last year I got all A*s in my GCSEs(!!!) which I was absolutely over the moon with and I started year 12 in September 2020.

A LEVELS
I’m currently studying Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Further Maths at AS Level which has been a challenge but very enjoyable so far.

NEXT YEAR/ PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
Next year I will be dropping further maths and applying to do medicine! It seems so close now I can hardly believe it!

YEAR 11
Year 11 was one of the best and worst years of my school life and the “worst” part was 100% because of covid. We missed our prom, leavers, celebration and countless other “right of passage” events which is extremely sad. However, the first half of the year was great and I did thoroughly enjoy it especially the Christmas period.

COVID VACCINE/EXPERIENCE
This past year has been so difficult especially for us students and I am finding it very difficult to learn from home as there is no separation from work and rest and I am spending around 20 hours in my bedroom every day!

SUMMER/WINTER?
I am 100% a summer girl - I love the sun! I burn so easily but the sun just makes me happy. That being said I do love snow - I just hate the cold!

TEA/COFFEE
Teaaaaa

GCSE grades: 65554443D*
Subjects for Alevel: Maths and Religious studies
BTEC: applied law
It's been a few months and it still feels like March 2020, mostly because I had to resit Year 12 lol.
PASS
Go to university to do teacher training in Maths.
Year 11? Surreal now. Almost forgotten I even went to secondary tbh...
Does reading count as an interest? If it doesn't it should. Doing maths equations counts as well, I've just decided. I also like photography.
Boredom on wheels, and I was riding on exams last year to actually get good grades, which did not happen so bit stressful. But I learned not to rely on end of year exams even though the education system wants you to, so there's that:smile:

Winter is my favourite season.
Coffee. Caffeine.

I know I'm months late but heyho, and also I really wish we were in normal school/college conditions, but 2021 says nope.

Reply 305

Yeah I know I'm like 5 months late but hey, better late than never!
GCSE Grades(if you would like to share them)
Biology - 9
Chemistry - 9
Physics - 8
DT - 8
Maths - 8
Computer Science - 7
German - 7
English Language - 7
English Literature - 6
Art - 6

Are you satisfied with your grades?
I mean they aren't bad, but I feel I would have done way better if I actually revised during my mocks instead of messing about and put more effort into assessments throughout Y11.

What subjects are you studying for A-Levels/BTECs
Biology, Chemistry, Maths.
Level 2 BTEC - teamwork and personal development
AS level - Thinking Skills
EPQ

How are you feeling about starting Year 12?
Was feeling nervous because of anecdotes from others stating that it would be way harder than GCSEs and there's a big jump in the content, but I quickly grew used o the workload and now I'm finding it manageable and not too difficult.

Any plans for the next year?
Try to get predicted grades of AAA in my three main subjects and also do well in my other two so that I would be able to apply for medicine without worry. Also, complete tons of work experience and get promoted at my squadron in the Air Cadets.

Any plans made yet for what you will do after A-Levels/BTECs?
Yeah, go to uni for medicine.

How was Year 11 for you?
I found it was mostly easy and so I messed about a lot. But I did also find that it was also my best year at school so far because everything other than the pressure on GCSEs was chill and fun.

Any hobbies/interests?
Playing video games, reading and drawing. Also, love watching anime!

How was your lockdown?

Boring but I had plenty of time to reflect and work on myself without any worries about work at school so that's something good that came out of it.

Hi everyone!

I'm currently studying A-Levels through distance learning on top of my full-time job and it's been a great experience so far.

I'm enrolled on:
AQA Mathematics
AQA Psychology
EDEXCEL English Literature

In English Literature I am studying:
- Twelfth Night & The Importance of Being Earnest
- Frankenstein & The Handmaid's Tale
- Wuthering Heights & The Bloody Chamber
- Poems of the Decade & T.S Eliot Selected Poems

I just wanted to check in, as I'm studying as a mature student through distance learning unfortunately I have no 'classmates' to discuss with! Hoorah for TSR.

Let me know if you're on the same course for any subject above, how are you finding it so far? What do you think will happen with exams in 2022? Are your school classes covering enough content thus far? How much studying are you getting in?

Would love to discuss any course! It's strangely enjoyable as a mature student.

Thanks!

GCSE GRADES:
.Biology-7
.chemistry-7
.physics-7
.R/S-9
.English lang-7
.English lit-7
.History-8
.french-5
.maths-5

satisfied with my grades?
I don't mean to come off as a ****, but personally they're pretty "meh". Me being me, i beat myself up about everything. I always feel as if i could do better. so, they're alright i guess, but i know i feel as if i could've done better in my mocks, cause the teachers pretty much gave our mock grades. In some subjects like Bio, i was achieving higher than what i was given. But.. whatever i guess

subjects currently studying:
Biology
Chemistry
Philosophy and ethics
EPQ
Plans for next year?
i plan to hopefully attain AAA predicted grades so that i can be 1 step closer to getting to med school:biggrin:

what im gonna do after A-levels?
Hopefully medicine

How was yr 11?
I honestly miss it. i wont go as far as to say that it was relaxing, as teachers were still breathing down our necks. But i liked Yr 11. I kinda enjoyed it

Hobbies?
. Video games- i used to play video games religiously, but I've kinda lost interest. It just doesn't feel the same. i still do play, just not a lot
.Gym- I was going to the gym quite a bit. I was a bit of a chubby kid. i got up one day and decide i wanted to be better; to be the best version of myself. Gym is also very therapeutic.
.Reading- I read ( or at least i try to read as much as i can) pretty much anything i get my hands on. ATM, im trying to make my way through 4 books on medicine and biology for my med school stuff.( teachers advised students in my school to just read into medicine, and recommended some books). I'm also trying to get through the "song of ice and fire" series[ Game of thrones]
Interests?
.Muay Thai- i have a newfound passion for kickboxing and plan to somehow fit this into my hobbies alongside gym( as nearby MMA gym has a gym too)
-piano- I've been dabbling in some self teaching. i have a keyboard and have been putting in some time to learn it. I've always had a passion for it, and plan to learn so much more.
- french- I have learnt some more french during lockdown. Having a multilingual mum to correct me really helped. during GCSE's it just didn't click. But now, i just love learning new languages. I plan on learning Italian, Spanish and Dutch next. wish me luck:biggrin:

+As you can see, im juggling a lot of hobbies ( kickboxing/ fitness, Piano, French, HW/ revision) so any advice would be appreciated

YELLO
GCSE grades were good but I am fairly sure that my textiles teacher had it out for our class: 9-98777665
Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and Core Maths. Am I mental, yes. Do I need help, yes. Will I ever make things easier for myself in there future, no (we thrive off anxiety)

I WAS excited about starting yr12 and when I did, I was vibing. Now I am sat in a corner crying to the imaginary friends that I wished I had lol
Plans are made to be broken
Year 11 suuuuuucked. So did: Every single day since I started school in the UK. Tip of the day - Never let your parents pick where you go to school.
Hobbies: Mental breakdowns, coffee and TRYING to read books because I am an iLlTEraTEEEEE!!!!!
Lockdown was an absolute mood. A big fat ugly mood that brought anxiety, depression and a s*** ton of oreo bites rising from hell
I am going to shamelessly plug this here:
My Academic Ghost Train (:

Just because I have nothing better to do:
Vaccine sucks cause we are not old for them to consider vaccinating us
I hate both summer and winter, prefer spring when it is not too warm and not too cold (I don't like taking off my hoodie)
Marmite is disgusting
And coffee is best but it has to be iced and not hot (not that I don't like hot coffee, it is just better iced)

Go check out my blog if you like to hear more of my procrastination and wouldn't mind listening to be blathering on about my past, present and future

GCSE Grades 10 9s and 1 8 in Further Maths.
Are you satisfied with your grades? Very! I actually got 2 8s initially but resat Biology in November, so I'm definitely happy that I could improve that because it has always been one of my weaker subjects.
A-Level Subjects Economics, English Literature, History and Maths.
Any plans for the next year? Do plans even exist anymore?
Any plans made yet for what you will do after A-Levels? I hope I get to take them. I'm interested in PPE at university, otherwise I have no clue.
How was Year 11 for you? So stressful, I did Art so coursework took up every waking moment Year 10-11. I love Art but no way would I continue that to A-Level.
Any hobbies/interests? In normal times I was a figure skater, so trained two-three times a week, I wasn't super good but I've been skating since I was 11 so it's something I do for fun and occasionally competed in. I at working towards Grade 7 piano and singing, but ngl I was forced into piano at age 6 so I have made very slow progress. Singing is more fun, but sadly no choirs are happening at the moment (honestly that's just asking for Covid).
How was your lockdown? Lockdown 1 was amazing, every lockdown since has messed me up mental-health wise. Missing friends. :frown:

Some random questions:
How long do you think it will take to get a Covid-19 vaccine, if there will ever be one? Maybe September? Who knows?
Do you like the summer or the winter? The summer, though Christmas is awesome and for that reason the winter isn't so bad.
Do you think marmite should be banned? No!
Do you like Tea or Coffee? Coffee, I'm addicted to caffeine.
