OCR- the worst exam board

I can't beleive OCR, they have messed this year's A-levels up sooo much.

Our school's A2 geog results were appalling, people were getting E,U in the 3rd module when majoirty were predicted an A; the head of geog asked for a set of the exam papers back and he said the answers were perfect and NO WAY an E standard. But guess what they didnt even go up when remarked---- just crazy. (o and the same happened in english literature)

Today my exam's officer told me that apparantly last year OCR gave too many people generous remarks so the board has told them they need to cut down on their remarking this year. this is actually true.

Im just sooo annoyed an exam board can do this :mad:

Has any tried to get a remark from them? or had any bad experiences with them?!?

Yes, They mashed me up for GCSE geography. I went from 50/50 in my coursework to a B overall, I didn't do that badly did I?! :rolleyes: Oh well...
I have them for History and I think the technique is to work on your exam technique as apparently that's really important to them :biggrin:

Agreed. OCR B is just utterly, utterly evil.

I think your class just did terribly in the exam.

i never had an exam with the OCR board but generally they are known to be the hardest board for most subjects and so it is v. respected in uni if you got like an A or B in say, A level Biology by OCR

AQA to the end!

plus edexcel arent that great either..

Reply 10

that might explain how i managed to get 3 consecutive U's in the exams then, even though i was predicted a C

you can say that again, AQA is by far the easiest

S'all about Edexcel..

Reply 13

Edexcel is still the worst!!!

Reply 14

OCR = Bad
Edexcel = Worse

I like OCR, they are the only board still running a Classics type A level - that said I did receive a strange module mark from an exam I was confident about. Didn't really bother me though.

AQA are the worst... marked one of my modules as an U and remarked it as an A...
Coursework marked as A both times down to C's... top of the class student getting A's in mocks and the student the teacher turns to for help with answers (or if no one else can get the answer) and still get U's and E's in exams for them.. (wtf?)...

not much exp with OCR tho sorry:P

AQA's the best, but I definitely wouldn't say that OCR is worse than Edexcel. I don't really know much about WJEC so I can't comment.

sig is hilarious :rofl: + rep

Yeah apparently edexcel is worse. Well, why wouldn't it be, when they get unqualified markers from India. Half of them struggle to sell me a product on the phone, let alone speak english properly :frown:, nothing against indians by the way :smile:

AQA are the most generous I'd say :cool:
I would rant about OCR, but they very kindly gave me an A in my psychology A level, so no complaints from me.
