I’m looking to buy an iPad Air for my degree starting in October. Does anyone know the ideal storage I’d need for this if I used the iPad for pages and files etc. Thank you!

I would argue that even 32GB would suffice for an iPad. Ideally you want to use cloud storage as much as possible to sync between devices (and you'll most likely get 1TB of cloud storage with your University Office365 account.
