So today i've just started a plan that I would do one topic of maths today as I am going into yr10 and then after I watched a vid on maths genie I do some practice questions.... does this seem like a good idea?

hey, I'm going into Yr10 as well in over a week.
Yes, the more practice you do the better you get in maths. I'd say videos particularly help in understanding how to do something and the fundamental basics. Practice questions can then help in, well, practising the content. I'd also say to go along with the school curriculum and the order they do it - especially if you're particularly struggling. Then, revise on what you already did once you have time. Only if you're confident in maths is it best to jump ahead and look into topics your school isn't teaching you yet.
Hope that helps
