12 GCSEs! That is how many I did, only remedials do less than 10!

13, far too many!
I did 12. An extra ICT in Year 10. An extra music in Year 11. And elected to sit the RE full course exam instead of the short course.

No Future: Chill! You are becoming a little obsessive about these things! First you want to get 11A*s, now you want to make sure 11 is enough!

My advice: go out and have a drink...

...or 11!!! :wink: :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Did it ever occur to you that some schools only let their pupils sit about 9 or 10? That's hardly their fault, is it? Besides that, you only need 6 at the most to go on to A-levels, so it's irrelevant whether you have 6 or 14. You said nothing about grades either; if one person had 9 A*s and someone else had 14 Cs, the one with more GCSEs would be the 'remedial' one, although I hate to use that word.

Wish I'd got 12 A*s.

OMG 9 people did 12 or more GCSEs!!
I'll have to start doing extras outside school!

I did 10 but finished my GCSE Maths early. The top Maths set in our school does the GCSE earlier and then does Additional Maths in the second year.

What is Additional Maths? Is it GCSE as well?

I did 11; 10 at my school, plus Astronomy GCSE in the evenings at another school (with about 2 lessons every three weeks and next to no revision, I got a B)

Overall I got 1 A*, 7 A's, 2 B's and a C (Drama - pah.)

Ohh fellow past GCSE Astronomy student! I did 13, 3 in my spare time [inc. Astronomy ;D]
2 + 2 = 5: I wish I got 12 A*s as well but we can't have everything can we?! I 'only' (for these forums anyway) got 6A*s, 5As and (an annoying) B simply because I didn't bother revising very much (if at all ).

Anyway, did you not get 11 A*s? Who's going to notice the difference?

Admittedly, Loxbridge and the rest might swing an application in favour of a person with one more A* if candidates are otherwise identical but I think this would only apply to subjects like medicine and law etc. which by sheer applications/offers ratio are a bit of a lottery anyway.

Unless you were trying to be sarcastic or dry and I missed it. I'm hopeless at picking up dead pan. :frown:

I did 10 (12 if you count GNVQ ICT which we had to do in years 8 and 9 which i don't) and that was enough! How are there enough hours in the day to do 14??? Unless you're already bilingual and so just sit those language exams i guess.

I did 8 I think with GNVQ ICT (havne't included that in my 8)
dropped language (german) because I had moved schools and had only done french before then.
Our school offers 11 GCSEs, but those who were in top-set Maths had to do Stats too - so I did 12. I ended up with 4A* 6A 2B.
