Exam certificates

Hi,

I finished my A Levels 7 years ago. I got ABB grades which got me into UCL but I dropped out.
I’m looking at applying to classical archaeology at KCL next year. They require ABB grades
On my exam certificates it says I have BCC grades! But I have the official letters from the two sixth forms I study at, confirming I got ABB grades.
If I send my exam certificates and sixth form letters to UCAS, would that suffice?

No - the grades go via the exam board to UCAS then to the university.

What did the school give you: was it the results slips?

You need to find out what has happened! Maybe ring the school first but wait until term has started and give them a few days/ Look at the website to see if the Head of Sixth form is still the same person.

The exam certificates are made by the exam board, not the sixth forms. You’ll need to contact the boards if you want new certificates.


Unfortunately it’s more likely that your sixth form made a mistake than that the exam boards made a mistake.

They gave me the results slip that said ABB. and gave me the exam certificates which said BBC

Look again at the slips - are you sure these are the final grades and not individual module results?

Yeah I know they’re the final grades. Bc I got into UCL which required ABB grades!

I can't understand why you didn't query the certificates as results slips aren't proof of anything. UCL could have taken you anyway if they needed to fill the course!

It’s the exam board who decide the grades, not your school. So the grades the exam board gave you are the grades you got. How do you “know” that you got ABB?

You have no proof though - currently the grades on your certificates are your A level results - not what the exam slips say.

UCL could have taken you - universities don't say 'Oh we'll take you anyway' they just confirm your place.

Guys I know I got ABB bc on my exam results letters from both sixth forms, that’s what it said for the overall grades
Plus my place at UCL was a conditional offer, so I had to get ABB to get in!
