posting a bit earlier in the day bc I'm technically on home study at the moment, and I'm going out later so won't have time to update! it's been a fairly chill week but at the same time I feel like a lot has happened?

biology
with one teacher we started looking at different types of muscles (and made a play dough model of.. something I've forgotten the name of haha. not a sacromellum, the other one) and with the other teacher we finally finished the kidneys and all that stuff so we've moved onto our next chapter, with is hormone secretion and the general endocrine system. I still really like our topics at the moment!

maths
in stats we've moved on to set notation, which at the moment is just venn diagrams. I don't understand how they can be simultaneously so easy and so difficult to wrap your head around... I swear the rules change every time!! and in pure we're still doing cosec etc, this time drawing graphs of them and finding points. I think I'm actually getting better at that thank god

german
we've finally finished studying foreigners and racism! as interesting as it is there's only so much time I can spend doing one topic. we're moving on to reunification of Germany now and then we'll be done!! madness. we also looked at symbols in the play, and did some exam questions which went pretty okay.

other~
so most excitingly... I've finally finished my UCAS application! I've submitted everything I need to submit, and my reference has been written, so now I just need the head of sixth form to approve it and it'll get sent off  it's such a relief to finally get it all done so now I'm just wanting this last bit to hurry up and get done so I can start actually receiving offers aaaaaah!
also moved my driving test to the 4th Nov so I can hopefully pass that and get it over and done with. but my mocks begin the week of 9th November so I'm going to be stress central :s-smilie: although I suppose they're not massively important in terms of university since I've got my predicted grades sent off on my application, I still don't want to do awful (obviously). I've made a list of everything I need to revise so now if teachers would stop setting me big chunks of homework so I can focus on revision I'd appreciate it xx

not a very exciting update oops, this is my more chill week of lessons so I didn't really do much except sit in the library a lot and get work done. so it's actually been quite productive! and I bought an echo dot when it was massively on offer so I'm hoping that'll help me keep my phone away while I'm working (since I usually use it for music) and I'll stay more focused. that's all for now I think. good luck to everyone who's doing exams/UCAS prep etc!! and shoutout to anyone who was grinding for the oxbridge/medicine deadlines :bhangra:

eee thank you!! I hope so too.
right?? I'm sure it is but for now I'll just complain abt it every time I do it haha. youu too! :hugs:
oh man has it been A Week... I cannot even begin to describe how glad I am that it's half term. :dancing: even if I do have mocks to revise for so that's basically going to take up the entire week. anyway.

biology
looked at muscle structure and the sliding filament model, then my teacher had to take a covid test lol so we were just set cover work which was some exam questions. I like to think I'm getting better with the mark scheme but I'm still not quite there. with my other teacher we just did some work on hormones and did a bunch of revision multiple choice questions on the cell cycle. considering they're only worth one mark each I have to go through so much stress to figure some of those out... i even took logs for one of them! nightmare.

maths
so many double lessons... I've not been in the headspace this week to deal with that. :argh:i don't even know what we did. more probability stuff I think? like probability theorem or something i don't even remember. had a fire drill during one lesson which was a fun time. also finished the chapter on inverse trigonometric functions and all that. I think I understand it? but equally I don't know exact trigonometric values well enough to be able to do it quickly/easily.

german
I feel like I didn't have that many german lessons this week. looked at the themes in the play, looked at responses to racism. did some translations and some grammar - some of it I understand but some parts of the subjunctive just confuse me, even though they're basically the same as the conditional. so maybe I just don't know the conditional lol

other~
omg it's been a WILD week!! my UCAS application didn't get processed until monday morning but I got an offer from Exeter on Tuesday evening which was SO exciting!! it's ABB for neuroscience, ABC if I firm it. I'm just so relieved to have at least one offer because i know I can definitely go to uni haha (provided I don't entirely mess up my exams). speaking of - I looked up my new exam dates and yes, they're only provisional but my two written german exams clash with two of my biology exams so.. don't know what I'm going to do with that one. I even take those subjects at two entirely different schools so.. that's nice. what else? I have mocks the second week back and it's just all been so poorly organised, I don't even know what's going to be on my german paper. good times. not stressed at all.. haha..ha

okay I think that's everything? I'll do an update at the end of half term to try and make sure I keep myself accountable for revision lol. hope everyone has a good half term break and enjoys a well earned rest!!

right? I can barely get through one haha. and thank you!! I also hope it gets changed because having two exams in one day is bad enough without the added stress of dealing with a clash :s-smilie:

WELL DONE ON YOUR OFFER :woo:

I can really relate with provisional exam clashes, like yes we all know it provisional but it's still frustrating:angry:

Best of luck with your revision this week, make sure you get chance to enjoy yourself as well :hugs:

thank you!! and yes it really sucks :frown:
hello again! I was going to do a half term update but I thought I'd wait until the end of this school week and do it all together so.. here I am! yes it's not even 1pm but I got out of school at like 12ish today and this is obviously a very productive use of study time haha. but actually I'll probably forget to do it tonight so anyway.. here!

half term
so since we have mocks next week (which is terrifying) I basically just spent the majority of the week trying to get revision done (keyword here being trying). I gave myself the whole first weekend off, which isn't much but it was very much needed. throughout the week I focused my maths revision in on topics that I've been struggling with, whereas with biology and german I tried to just broadly go over everything and identify weaknesses as I went. I made a plan at the beginning of the week and put specific tasks on specific days, and I followed it right up until about Saturday/Sunday but I was happy with that. also saw some friends a bit at the end so that was nice <3

biology
with one teacher we just did some revision of biological molecules since he didn't want to dive into any new content so close to mocks. our other teacher, however, dived right into our new topics and we were looking at tropisms and did some microscope work. we did do some revision though - went over the coordination of the heartbeat and transport of carbon dioxide in the blood. coincidentally two of my weaker topics lol

maths
didn't really do much! again, teachers just wanted to focus on revision so we went over some mechanics stuff and just generally tried a few questions from different topics to see where we're at. I missed a lesson revising logs so I did that in my own time, and I think I mostly get them now lol - they've finally clicked. my only problem is ln and e to the x,, bane of my existence

german
did some practice reading questions which were fairly easy. since we only have one slot next week to do our exam in designated time we did some stuff in lessons - the listening aspect of paper one, which I think went okay? it wasn't great but it could've gone worse. we also did the translation from paper 2 which is english into german and again I think it went pretty well, but I'm sure I should've tried to go over the grammar a bit more. oh well!

so,, new lockdown huh? this one just doesn't feel real since we're still going into school and life is relatively 'normal'. it's not until I think about hanging out with friends outside of school or trying to do something with my family on the weekend that I remember we really just can't go anywhere. it just doesn't make sense to me. I'm sure most people spent that last night pre-lockdown 2.0 out with friends (if scrolling through instagram stories has taught me anything) but thanks to a stroke of good luck I had my driving test that afternoon! and PASSED! thank god, because I don't think I could've waited until like March to try again. especially knowing I had the opportunity to do it. so that's a huge weight off my shoulders! it was actually a relatively easy test, I feel like some of the routes my instructor took me down were a lot harsher than I ended up driving. I got 4 minors but honestly I'll take that!
I think that's pretty much everything? this feels very rambley and I'm sorry, I basically treat this like my own diary or something. my plan for this weekend ahead of mocks is to just do some practice papers/questions and just hope for the best. I have two exams on Monday and one on Wednesday so hopefully I can take the second half of the week to just chill a bit!

~mock week~
so this week was fairly chill! apart from the whole.. mock exams that could potentially dictate my actual a level grades that get me into uni. y'know. no big deal. :bawling: so a slightly different layout this week I guess!

MONDAY - two exams. kill me. I had maths in the morning which I don't think went too badly? It was mostly AS content which I'm alright with, but that means that paper two (which we have on Monday) will probably be more A2 focused so... gonna lose a healthy chunk of marks there. here's to another weekend of revision! then later that afternoon I had biology, and we did a paper one. what absolutely sucks is that they gave us the 2018 paper, which is online so if I'd done it for revision I already would've seen the mark scheme and done so much better!! but I suppose this is a more 'accurate' representation of where I am. also there was an ecology question on it worth 10 marks which isn't supposed to be in paper one so I didn't revise it at all.. yikes. overall a stressful day but at the end of it all I felt alright.

TUESDAY - so the way the week worked is we didn't have to go into school periods 1 and 2 because that was when exams were held, so I had a fairly chill morning. I went into school for third and fourth lessons as I technically had double maths and was supposed to be there, but I easily could've stayed home - the teacher didn't show up until like half an hour in, and we were only doing our own revision anyway. the only revision I did that day was some german vocab quizlets

WEDNESDAY - german reading/listening exam in the morning! we already did the listening section of it last week, which makes no sense to me because it means we had the whole 2 hours to do like an hours worth of the exam? so I spent a lot of time just sat there daydreaming. it was kinda hard but I'm hoping the translation has got me a decent few marks at least. spent the rest of the day doing nothing lol I was just relieved to have the week basically over with

THURSDAY - didn't go in at all! I took the entire day to myself after having the whole stress of uni applications and exams and whatnot and it was so nice <3

FRIDAY - also didn't go in at all! had big plans to do some german essay plans ahead of our paper 2 exam on Tuesday but so far I've done maybe one haha. it's only 2 though (thought I'd get this written early) so I'm hoping I'll get some more done this afternoon

other~
I got two more uni offers!! they both arrived within about an hour of each other on Tuesday which was ~stressful~ but so exciting! only waiting on Cardiff now! I got an AAB offer from Newcastle to study biomedical science, and an AAA offer from Birmingham to study human neuroscience (which I think is my top choice at the moment? but I'm not sure yet!) it feels like such a MASSIVE relief to not have to stress about offers now! even if I get a rejection from Cardiff I have 2 neuroscience offers that I can put down so I'm happy. I think that's all really? it's basically been a stressful week but also a chill week if that makes sense. hope everyone's had a good week
