thank you! hope you're staying sane through all this too
made it through week 2 of the term! thankfully this week was a bit more chill and went faster, but nonetheless I am still in need of the holidays immediately preferably.

biology
did some photosynthesis revision in my own time so I actually have more of a grip on what tf is happening lol. it's actually not too bad once you wrap your head around it, but it does take time. also all the words are starting to blur into one which is really helpful. same with respiration - I'm planning on going over it this weekend so I can see what's happening.

maths
i don't even know to be honest. we've finished projectiles now and I think I mostly know what's happening? most of the time? the beginning of the chapter is fairly easy, it's just towards the end when there's a lot of stuff happening I just sort of lose track and give up. and with our other teacher we've started normal distribution which also doesn't seem too bad but we've only had one lesson on it.

german
we're continuing on looking at the DDR and stuff. we're looking at the Stasi at the moment and it's actually so fascinating! like don't get me wrong it's disgusting to see some of the things they did, but it just amazes me how much control they had over the whole country. I haven't done much IRP research since last week so that's my aim for the weekend. I really need to find two written sources in german but they all just kinda suck.

other
not a lot to say this week really! it's my more chill week lesson wise, and also we're just not getting tons of work done because you know.. online. so far I've been fairly good at holding myself accountable and getting work done in lessons (by some miracle, I really don't know how I'm doing it) but I'm sure that the longer this goes on, the more I'll be just getting things done at the absolute last minute. but anyway. I don't have much else to say for the week! as always hope everyone's staying safe + has a good week <3

honestly I've got really mixed feelings - I'm very glad they got cancelled because there's no way it would've been fair for everyone to take normal exams, but at the same time depending on what they replace them with it could end up being worse. hopefully it's just teacher assessed and so I can at least get the grades I need for uni! and thanks haha - my tip for year 10 would just be to start getting on top of notes now so when it comes to revising in year 11 it's not as much of a mad rush (although obviously this can be hard, especially during these times lol). In terms of revision my absolute holy grail is doing exam questions, and this works for any subject honestly - for english and other essay subjects I mostly just did essay plans for almost every scenario, and then with science/maths etc I just did a bunch of past papers. good luck with everything! feel free to dm if you ever need help w anything
another week down, who knows how many to go. but we just about struggled through

biology
finished photosynthesis! overall I think i actually don't mind it, like it's not difficult, but there's just a lot to remember so that'll be interesting to revise. which I need to do this weekend because we're doing a test on monday - open book, thank god! but I do still wanna revise. and we're also still looking at respiration, we did research into deep sea diving animals which was actually quite interesting

maths
more stuff on the normal distribution which is fairly chill, and also we've started.. I can't remember the name of the chapter but iterations is involved. we looked at the Newton Raphson method today. that's all fairly easy because it's more like just a step up from GCSE than a step up from AS which is very much needed for my sanity right now

german
still looking at life in the GDR! looked at the positives of it all and now I think we're moving onto the cold war and stuff before doing reunification. I actually do think this topic is really interesting, but my teacher loves it and so she'll go into way more detail than is probably needed and my attention span is just not here for it.

other~
I feel like not a lot has happened this week? it's my busier lesson week so chances are I was either in a lesson or doing nothing. low on motivation this week, or perhaps more just low on focus - I genuinely wanted to get work done but I'd sit down for like 10 minutes and my brain would decide no we're not doing this any more. so that's really fun. uh other than that been a pretty good week! gonna hopefully get all my work done this weekend and also do some fun stuff. oh and I started watching superstore on netflix - I really needed a show with shorter episodes to watch and I love it! it's super chill, would defo recommend!

We’ve just finished normal distribution in maths, it doesn’t get too complicated which I’m glad about
Could I be tagged too please? :h:

absolutely! and yeah we finished it the other day, I was half expecting it to suddenly become impossible but thank god it didn't :clap2:
i've honestly lost track of how many weeks in we are, and how many we have left. I just know I'm hanging on by a thread.

biology
did a photosynthesis test! it was open book luckily, and despite only revising that morning it didn't go too badly. I have no idea what grade I got because she didn't give us any form of boundaries but I got about 70% which I'm happy with. it's that damn mark scheme that messes me up. and with our other teacher we finally finished doing respiration so now we have a test on that next week. fun fun fun. I've been revising it and actually realising it's not all that bad - there's not a ton of steps to it but each bit is detailed (:

maths
we've finished normal distribution and thankfully it didn't get all that difficult! we also finished iteration and again, it wasn't too bad. thankfully maths seems to have chilled out in terms of crazy difficult content - at least until we start doing A2 integration, which even the thought of right now makes me want to cry. we've started.. i don't remember the name of the topic but it's in mechanics and I think we've started with static particles? so far it's just resolving forces and stuff. easy so far but I really hate mechanics

german
we've moved onto the fall of the Berlin Wall now, or at least the events that occurred leading up to it. it's actually really interesting but I feel like not a lot of it is actually registering in my brain. oops. we also have been set an essay on the play we're studying and for the life of me I cannot rub two brain cells together to make a clever thought. it's not due until half term though which is good, would be better if I actually remembered how many weeks are left! can't be more than two right?

other
nothing really of note to say here! I kind of did no homework over the weekend (oops) because I took Saturday off accidentally and then it snowed on Sunday so I was really trying to absorb the good vibes there and did no work again. so a lot of this week has just been playing catchup but I finally did everything I needed to! and I'm even - dare I say - slightly ahead on work due for next week so I can have a relatively chill weekend, although there is of course always more I could be doing. but I'm trying to take it easy because I feel like I could very easily push myself over the edge with work

hope everyone has a great weekend <3

This lockdown is really making everyone lose track of time/day - I can't wait to get back to just some kind of normality

Glad to hear all of your subjects are going okay and pleased to hear you got to have a chill weekend

Have a wonderful week :hugs:

honestly same! never thought I'd miss have the routine of school/work but here we are :colondollar: you too!
I feel like this week actually went by pretty quickly? but maybe that's just me.

biology
had a respiration test which I think went pretty good! haven't got the results back yet but fingers crossed. with our other teacher we've started looking at DNA profiling and I'm actually really excited to look at more of the genetics stuff! especially considering I nearly went for a more genetics based degree . looked at PCR (how topical) and it actually made sense - wild!

maths
turns out we hadn't finished normal distribution last week, we did hypothesis testing which vaguely made sense but also it didn't really? I wasn't paying attention much lol but it doesn't seem too bad. and with our other teacher we just looked at static particles more, introducing friction and stuff, and it's all fairly easy which is good. our lesson today got cancelled but we still have work to do for it so time to finish figuring that out.

german
looked at the fall of the Berlin wall and all that, watched a few videos. did some speaking and uh half of it went better than the other half let's just say. but I think we're moving on to the reunification now. like I keep saying this stuff is all fairly interesting but nonetheless it seems neverending. oh also did some translations and shocked myself by not having to look much of it up? guess after five years I really am learning the language (just about)

other
nothing much to say really! it's overall been a pretty good week but I am very much still just doing the bare minimum to get by. and I'm okay with that. next week we have a screen-free day for mental health which I'm excited about (although part of me wishes it was on a day where I had more than two lessons. but beggars can't be choosers I suppose).

hope everyone has had a good week, enjoy your weekends <3

thank god this half term is over.. motivation has hit an all time low

biology
looked at more DNA profiling stuff and sort of recapped what we've done so far and I actually am.. dare I say.. enjoying this topic! which makes a nice change from not having a clue what is happening. didn't have my other teacher this week because we had a screen free day for our mental health (which meant I watched netflix instead of zoom calls, of course) but we were told to go on a walk and take some pictures of wildlife so I have some very exciting pigeon photos.

maths
I feel like I barely had any maths lessons this week! we just took some time to do some exam questions for normal distribution since we didn't want to start integration on our last lesson of half term (and honestly, I'd rather not do it at all but I don't think that's how life works). and with our other teacher we did more static particle stuff, I think we added in moments and something else? none of it was too bad luckily

german
also a fairly chill week of lessons. I don't even remember what we did honestly. I did some listening and reading stuff for sure, for A level stuff it still wasn't too bad. and we also finally wrote the intro presentation for our IRP - I thought it was due after half term but my teacher emailed this morning asking for it by midday so I got a first draft done Very Quickly. very bad but at least it exists in some sense?

other
nothing much else to say really! like I said motivation is at an all time low so half term has come just in time. very excited to do nothing for a week! oh I've been watching wandavision on disney+ and I honestly forgot how much I love marvel (and equally how much I hate having to wait in between episodes). hope everyone has a relaxing half term, at least for a couple of days! <3

when I tell you I did nothing over half term.. I genuinely did NOTHING. that's the point my motivation has reached oops. now that grades are teacher assessed I feel slightly less guilty abt that because school work is the only thing I can bring myself to put effort into for now, revision has wayy slipped down. but anyway onto this week!

biology
with one teacher we're looking at genetic mutations etc which is super interesting! but he decided to use breakout rooms for the first time ever, and not only that but make us make a presentation. my group just Did Not Talk and I'm the only one who said I'd do a specific task so I think I'm gonna end up making it all oops. at least I'll understand lac operon really well hopefully? and with the other teacher we were looking at genetic engineering which is also v interesting but she gave us very difficult exam questions

maths
w one teacher we've started vectors, which is fairly easy so far - I understand AS vectors to an extent but when it gets difficult I don't lmao so this should be interesting. and w the other teacher we've started integration which I'm really not looking forward to. we've done two sections of it so far but the problem is I've forgotten the chain rule etc so that's probably stopping me from really knowing wtf is happening. gonna have to work on it this weekend

german
uhh I can't even remember what we've looked at this week. I think we just read an article about the man who made the decision to open up the berlin wall, and just looked at how people expected life to be after the event. nothing too crazy. I need to work on my IRP intro more but every time I open up the document I am unable to form a single coherent thought so we'll be leaving that for a bit

other
super busy week but I think it's actually been pretty decent. I still haven't fully read up on the govt announcement from yesterday about school but the gist I got was that it's teacher assessed so I'm feeling fairly happy I'll be able to get the grades I need for uni, but the remaining uncertainty is still throwing me off a bit. we'll see. now to hope that this roadmap actually plays out.. not sure how to feel there.
hope everyone is staying sane + has a good weekend! enjoy the sun while it lasts
