I applied for policy and strategy and general management, and I emailed them to find out if/when/how you select a preference for one of the two schemes.

They told me that the policy scheme was no longer open. I replied saying I was already aware it was no longer open, but was under the impression if you'd already started your application you'd still be considered for it. They then replied saying 'Unfortunately the Policy and Strategy specialism is closed for all candidates and no successful candidates will receive a placement in this area. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment caused by this.'

I still didn't believe them, so I sent them a screenshot of the bit on the application portal which said your application will still be considered if you already applied etc. And they responded with: 'Sorry that it is not made clear in this communication and thank you for bringing this to our attention, we have now updated this. Unfortunately we can confirm any application made for GMTS Policy and Strategy will no longer be considered for this position. Sorry for the disappointment and confusion caused by this.'

Feel free to email them yourself to clarify as I did think it was random and odd!

So random! I’m going to do my interview assuming policy and strategy are still open I think

Contradicts what they said on Twitter too which says they closed the specialism because of a high level of interest - which seems to make a lot more sense!

Fingers crossed it’s a mistake - I’ve checked the website too and it hasn’t been updated

Got VI invitation today too!
But there is no words saying which specialism i applied for, neither email nor online portal. How about you guys?
I am under the impression that the scheme you apply for does not matter much as of the video interview stage. I saw a post on last years thread in which the NHS Grad Scheme co-ordinators said that there is not different thresholds etc for the schemes - they are all marked uniformly until the later stages. It is the same for the fast stream VI too. Also I wouldn't worry much about the 'first come first served' thing - applications are still open until December. The likelihood is that there are still people who haven't applied, who will make it to the AC.

Hi guys, also just received my VI invite for health informatics, and did the video interview straight away lol - I hate waiting around so just wanted to get it over and done with

Girlll your probably the bravest person I know, I would have had a breakdown if I had to do it straight away lol. Anyway, do you get any time in-between the questions to prepare for the answers if so how much?

does anyone know which dimension (healthcare leadership model) will be tested during VI?

from the posts years ago (https://graduates.nhs.uk/connect/) two dimensions were written in the email but i haven't that.

idk I could be wrong lol. It may be under 'inspiring shared purpose' to see if your 'ethos' and values do match with the NHS. I really don't know lol:smile:
I too have a VI invite.. what is the deadline for this? I can't find it anywhere. Cheers.
Do you know if the ACs will be virtual this year due to Covid? or we expected to attend in person?

Cheers

They’ve updated their website - read the last sentence :frown:

For those wondering, I DM'd the grad scheme on twitter and they told me that we have 10 days to complete the VI so do not stress in relation to the First Come First Serve, obviously use your own judgement but just in case if any were curious.

Doesn’t look ideal - though surely it still is suggesting that if you have already started an application for policy and strategy, you’ll be considered? But if you haven’t you won’t be - though ‘any’ application doesn’t sound encouraging!

I’m going to email to clarify; it doesn’t make sense!

Also was there an option to select a preference location? Or did it just ask if you’re open to flexibility regarding location? Can’t remember - cheers!
Hi Guys,

Has anyone sat the video interview for the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS)? I have just been invited and curious to hear what people think.

Does anyone know how long we have from getting the email invitation to actually completing it? Working 6 days a week atm so looking to book time off to complete it but that won’t be for a week or so!

You’ve got 10 days
Does anyone know how long the interview will take? I know the email states 45 mins but I wondered how accurate this is?

Hi! Is there gaps between the questions (a chance to pause), or does it just move continually from one to the next?
Hey guys! Need some help please.

I began my application on Nov 7th, but due to lots of midterm exams I haven’t had a chance to complete the online tests. I was just wondering what the deadline is to do these? The email I received about the online tests says that I should ‘try’ to do them within 10 days. So is this the deadline?
