I found the change in exam technique hard - I got a U in my first test because even though I’d got all the correct content, the exam technique was completely wrong, so I’d say make sure you listen to your teacher when ever they give you guidance on exam technique. The biggest difference is the length of the questions, I know it varies from exam board to exam board, but for OCR the longest is 33 marks. In terms of content, I don’t think it’s too much harder than gcse, you just go into more detail for each topic.

You will be fine if you work hard (Since my U I have managed to start getting As and A*s) so don’t worry too much

Is it like a change from PEE paragraph type answers or something (cos tbh I don't like them anyway)? I will make note of everything the teacher says  I really want geography to go well! That's not too bad, I am one of those people who writes too much anyway (the type who at the end of the lines has arrows and words going everywhere 😂 ) and as long as the time limit allows for it I should be ok . That's good, thank you so much for your insight!

I do need to prepare myself to not be really upset if I do get D/E/U at the beginning tbh lol but I'll keep this in mind!

I guess every school teaches differently but, yes in some questions I still use PEE paragraphs, in others I don't. You should be fine with your grades - some people get low grades at the start others don't, but if you do, just use it as a motivation to do better next time

Mini Update:
(yes I am procrastinating)

I finally handed all my work in that I did online today :woo: so that leaves me with just.. maths.. :s-smilie: . I am trying to do the dreaded maths work and I am just a confused mess (more on Q3+4) and I am once again panicking because this just makes no sense to me . I will attach a pic below of the questions lol which to many of you will probs seem easy but my GCSE teachers weren't the best to say the least so I have no idea😂

I think I will probs do another mini update on Tuesday after collecting my iPad and whatever else we might do and then a big one on Wednesday to sum up my first day

I know how you feel with this. I do maths and I'm in year 13 now, but even I have to go back and look at my notes when it comes to stuff like this. It will come in handy when you do differentiation and integration though

Is there any particular questions you are stuck with? Don’t worry too much, once you know all the tips and tricks these kind of questions become second nature

Yeah, I've kept all my GCSE maths books and revision guides just in case I need to look back at the basics . I'm gonna take another look at the maths later today, I think it's easier than I made it out to be and I was just panicking a lot yesterday lol :s-smilie:.

It's mainly the ones that look scary (for example 2h) cos I see them and panic most of the time  .. I think I'm gonna give it another go later today with a different mindset (not panicking) and try again ..

I'm just reallllly hoping my teachers are nice cos if I don't like them I will not learn (that's partly what went wrong in Y11! 😂) but if they're good I can pick stuff up quite well  Guess I'll find out soon lol

Ahh yes, it’s good to take a break, it’s sometimes amazing how much easier something can be once you’ve had a break from it :yep: for 2h, write each one as an individual power, then multiply together (idk if that helps at all)

I tried 2h and ended up with x13/6 not sure if it's right though :s-smilie:

I know you're not supposed to but I find substituting numbers in helps me work them out  but as long as I get an answer it doesn't matter I suppose?

No it doesn’t matter - I do it all the time to check my answers  I would on,y do it in exams though if you have enough time....

And from what I can do in my head I think your answer to 2h is right

I think once I crack the method of how to do these questions I won't have to substitute  and I think I'm finally starting to get my head round them :woo:

Yay
