Quoting this here:

It is interesting that they have been continually asked to reprint them but have refused on the grounds that there needed to be some appropriate context, thus clearly illustrating that they were never just "gratuitous insult".

Also quoting a principled liberal democratic leader:

"There is in France a freedom to blaspheme which is attached to the freedom of conscience. I am here to protect all these freedoms. In France, one can criticize a president, governors, blaspheme," he said.

Macron also paid tribute to the victims the January 2015 attacks. On Wednesday, the first day of the trial, "we will all have a thought for the women and men who were cowardly shot because they drew, wrote, corrected, were there to help, to deliver," he said.

France's Macron refuses to condemn Charlie Hebdo cartoons of Prophet Muhammad

Macron displaying his balls of steel too.
I may be wrong but some how, despite worshipping Churchill, I don't think Boris would have done the same in Macrons des chaussures.

And he said it while in the Middle East, of all places!

The exact thought crossed my mind. I don't think you're wrong. Principled is the last thing I'd label Boris.

Good on them. Satirising a religion should never be a crime.
