Did an internship with HSBC this summer, obviously every firms internships were moved online if they went ahead. So I don't want to put virtual, it sounds less legit and I got onto the actual internship programme it was just bad luck it moved virtual.

Are people in a similar spot just putting internship or virtual internship?

I don’t think adding virtual will necessarily putting you at an disadvantage. A virtual internship also shows you were able to adapt and be proactive during the pandemic/the unforeseen circumstances. On your CV, you could title it as a regular internship, then mention in the bullet points that it was remote/virtual.
