Just heard from our Medicine people that we've had 4,000 applications so far (a fair few will still be being processed by UCAS) for our 240 places. That's just under 17 applications per place

Thats a lot. I spoke to admissions tutur at Liverpool and he estimated 25 people per place for Dentistry there, about a weeks ago. I think there is something like 65 places.

Sounds like the norm for med school school leaver applications! scary huh!
Think yourself lucky you're not grads, where there are usually 40-50 people per place

At this rate, it will be AAAA with a lot of other activities as well.

But I was referring to the quality of the degree. i.e. is getting a 2:1 from Cam say, get you into Medicine easier than say getting a 2:1 in say another university. Or getting a first.

Yeah, I know, I was just implying there is more to graduate entry than the quality of degree.

don't worry about it- that's Southampton where the applicants : place ratio is always the highest in the UK, due to their no interview policy for school leavers.

But it gives you the preliminary increase in applicant numbers all across the board
