Extending Tier 4 visa within UK

Hi, wondering if anyone has applied to extend the visa from within the UK this year? I would like to know the process after submitting the online application:
1. After submitting the online application, do you get a confirmation email confirming the receipt of the application? Did the email include instructions on how to book an appointment at the UKVCAS service point?

2. How many days do you have to wait in order to go to an appointment after submitting the online application? I heard it has been severely delayed due to COVID?

Just submitted my application. No appointments at all, the last date shown as of today is 18th of October and theres no availability at any centres. Also, the appointment booking website is redirected to you right after submitting the visa application
