Me (male) and my girlfriend (female) are both 18and have been together for 2 years. Until today we were both virgins. We've talked about sex before and I told her that I will wait until you are ready. This weekend she has been hinting that she wants to have sex with me (touching me, rubbing my crotch, kissing below my stomach). I asked her if she was ready. she said yes. We had sex and she was happy and enjoyed it. An hour afterwards she began to look upset. I asked if she was OK. She said to me "I'm not a virgin anymore am I". I said "no your not, I've popped your cherry!" She then burst into tears. I tried to comfort her but I do not know why she is upset. Why is she upset? Did I do anything wrong? How can I help her?

Happy tears I’m guessing. She’s quite overwhelmed which is normal. Just be there for her and please don’t blame yourself. You did nothing wrong

Tell her you're sorry and that you'll never do it again.

Maybe she is upset that she is no longer a virgin anymore. Talk to her about it and reassure her.

Talk to your girlfriend when she is ready and listen to her.

You shouldn't have said, "I've popped your cherry". It sounds like you used her for her virginity.

You didn't do anything wrong. Does she have any religious or cultural reasons for being like that?

I hope she manages to come to terms with it because it sounds like it was an otherwise positive experience in an otherwise happy relationship.

Edit: Just saw this is 10 months old so any updates?

I know it's been ages now, but I do wonder what happened after this...
