ecolier got a drone recently so has been travelling up and down the country to get some fantastic footage and pretty pictures.

It's only an entry level drone so please excuse the quality of the photos.

Here goes!

Edit: Ecolier now has a YouTube channel - subscribe to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcq...ZHrETFYJTTfdg/

P.S. Feel free to ask me anything about flying the drone. I can't promise I'll have the answers but I'll try!

And here is the location of the drone... it was on the day when Nottingham Meadows hosted a Drive-In cinema event so you can see the big screen!

Maximum 500m, but the default limit is 120m and I have been sticking to that for now until I am more experienced.

Yes that's the one.

It's the "entry level" amateur drone - cool features like 2.7k camera at 30fps / 1080p at 60fps and 30 minute battery. It's definitely not cheap though!

The best thing about it, is that it weighs < 250g (actually exactly 249g) so do not (yet) need registration. It can also easily be taken overseas when going on holidays (because most countries also set the registration limit at 250g).

It is! I went down to London today and it's really high looking down at the built-up areas (and the Thames) at 120m.

Stay tuned for those pics (and maybe videos!).

I can imagine! I bet the river looks lovely - you may have caught some rowers waving too (I have waved at a few drones in my time )

Looking forward to the pics, it'll be great to see London from another angle

Nice! I didn't catch any rowers today though, only the usual river traffic (tug boats, Thames Clippers, some Thames fast boat touristy traps...).

Still, it looks amazing!

Definitely.

It's way better than MS Flight Simulator except it's several times more expensive and you can't fly it everywhere. The upside is - it's real life!

I bet it does! The Thames is gorgeous at the worst of times
Did you catch any of the awful Uber river taxis? Or any swans, I've been seeing quite a few round by St Pauls?

Definitely.

Can you watch the drone footage in real time then (like flight simulator)?

You see literally everything in a different light when it's from a different angle. Even my house seen from the bird's eye view is so different!

The camera angle can be pointed 0 degrees (straight ahead) to 90 degrees (straight downwards) so you can either look at the horizon or look down (like a map / Google satellite) except it's in real time.

Yep, there's live view (with your phone app) while you're flying it but if you plug in a microSD card you'll be able to record in 2.7k (not 4k UHD sadly, need to upgrade to an even more expensive drone to get that) in 30fps or 1080p in 60fps.

It eats memory cards like it's cake - 22 minutes footage today took up around 6Gb. And yes you can of course watch it afterwards in glorious full HD or 2.7k.

And here is a very brief video of it flying there!

Remember to turn on 1080p if watching it in YouTube.

Also feel free to subscribe and give it a thumbs up
