I was well aware that Houston was important in the world of oil. My comment was a joke. I would say that the middle east was the oil capital of the world actually.

back on the subject of public schools etc, i went to state secondary, but private 6th form.

IMHO, public schools give u much more social skills, as you're always doing more extracurricular activities there, which give you the opportunity to meet people outside of your circle of friends. and to attend lots of cool dinner parties as well!
