Hi folks

My daughter will be starting university next week. She is already registered with our family doctor. However, can she also register with a local doctor near her university, in case she needs to visit doctors during term time? Or does she have to 'deregister' from the family doctor in order to register with another one close to university?

Thanks

Bottom line: no you can't have 2 GPs registered, you will have de-register from your current GP.

Unfortunately you can't. It has been really difficult for me at uni as I was very ill during first year but was unsure about staying at my uni so didn't want to swap doctors. If I needed medical assistance e.g. was on antibiotics a couple of times, I was advised to just call 111 and they booked me in at the hospital
Edit: as in, you can only have one doctor's surgery, so deregister and register there or stay the same
