Hello.
We have a Eng literature test tomorrow on inspector calls. We have to either write about the theme of responsibility or Gerald's character in the play. Would responsibility or gerald be better to do? And can someone write an example paragraph for each so I can structure my essay in a similar way pls? Danke

both are interesting subjects in AIC- i preferred writing about themes as it gave me wider scope and opportunity to talk about several characters but it's ultimately down to you.

As sprout's already said, I think writing about theme is easier simply because there's more to talk about. Writing about theme also makes it easier to talk about the writer's intentions and being consciously aware that the characters in the plays are just constructs.
There's more points you can raise, more characters you can talk about.

Also writing about responsibility means you can talk about context wayyy more easily too. You can talk about Priestley's socialist values, the whole ww1-ww2 thing.
