    You know there's a very common term of endearment in portugues that men use for women that literally translates to 'boss' (a very tacky one but one nonetheless)... maybe that's a better idea...

    over here we just use "boss"

    eg : man goes to car showroom...and likes a car and would buy but "i'll have to check with the boss first"

    winks exchanged between salesman and man...who then exits to get told "NO" by annoying wife
