Where are u gonna apply?

Liverpool cardiff plymouth Leeds. Wbu?

Reply 781

cardiff are quite gcse heavy so maybe not cardiff, u could consider qmul as you have quite high ucas points to balance out ur ucat score, or sit the bmat and choose leeds.

Hi, I have a low ucat score of 2440 B3
GCSE grades 9998888777
Alevel predicted A*A*A

I have currently applied to Cardiff QUB Plymouth and Liverpool
Do you think these are valid uni choices? Has anyone seen someone getting an offer with similar stats?

Also, I'm considering Leeds instead of Liverpool as I heard that they have changed their selection process.
I wasn't considering BMAT at all until today and I don't think I'll do very well since I only have a month to prepare for it.

Ucat- 2740 band 2
GCSE-9998888776 (6 computer science)
A level - A*AA (achieved)
Ok personal statement
Any idea what dental schools are most likely to offer an interview. I wanna apply Birmingham but not sure about 3 others.

Did Liverpool change their selection process?? In what way?

Do you think Plymouth would increase their cutoff too much this year since its not prepublished? Last year it was 2290 and my score is 2380. @waffle9090 @Mesopotamian.

I haven’t seen the decile information released by UCAT, but if I were an applicant, I’d compare last year’s and this year’s average UCAT score and extrapolate from that.

It’s difficult to say really. Looking at last years deciles, the scores have stayed the same on the higher end but dropped slightly on the middle and lower end. On the whole people have generally done slightly worse than last year but again, you don’t know whether this is purely just medicine applicants or an even combination of medicine and dental applicants. You also cant predict how many people will apply to Plymouth, if this number drastically increases I imagine they would have to raise their cut off by quite a substantial amount - what this number is difficult to predict. Their previous UCAT cutoffs have been 2230, 2190, 2280 and 2290 respectively so generally on the incline fluctuating around 2200-2300, with that said if the trend follows you should be safe with your UCAT score. I would say it would still be good to apply to Plymouth as you’ve got a stronger chance here than anywhere else (besides Leeds). Sorry for not giving a direct answer but really no one knows what could happen.

The first one’s for med and I think I just assumed that dentistry would have the same selection process😅 Below is for dentistry and it clearly is different from medicine

Hi guys I’m an international student (IB)
My other IB grades are above the entry requirements but I have a predicted 4 for English and one section of my IELTS grade is 0.5 lower than some of the unis requirements ( I’m pretty sure I’ll get a higher grade for the final IB grades and I’m gonna retake IELTS later)
Would this be a big problem?
My UCAT is 3130 B1 so I don’t worry about that

If you apply with stats that don’t meet requirements, it’s most likely an instant rejection. There is very high competition for internationals as there are a limited number of spaces.

Having said that, try your best to get the best grades you can because you can then take a gap year and reapply with good results.

Is there an option to send off the my dentistry application but send the fifth choice application at a later date on UCAS?

You can leave the 5th choice to January but you don't need to have a 5th choice. If you're commited to dentistry then take a gap year and reapply.

does anyone know if your predicted A* A* A but you achieve A*AA, would unis like kings and QML (which need A*AA) still hold your offer and accept you?

As long as you achieve the offer - which is A*AA - then yes they will.
