Will not going to a Russell group university ruin my chances of securing a graduate job at the Big 4?

A bit of background:

I had really hoped to get into a top uni and then try for the big 4 when I graduate, however, I suffered extenuating circumstances and missed my firm offer. I didn’t get the opportunity to resit this year due to coronavirus and have had to accept my insurance offer at Nottingham Trent with my old grades as I really don’t want to take another year out. Do big four companies consider graduates that are not at Russell group unis or should I consider transferring to one next year?

Big 4 firms (etc) do not seem to look at the university attended. They are often very strict about A level grades which I think builds the impression that they only look at more competitive universities. This may differ for consulting and some of the smaller, specialist departments.

Ohh I see, thank you. I’m thinking of still retaking this summer anyway so hopefully that shouldn’t be an issue.

no, shouldn't be too big a deal, but I can see interviewers getting implicit bias

They do use A-level grades to filter applicants. But after this they send out psychometric & analytic tests, then they also have these situational judgment tests which you do online. if you pass the CV screening, minimum academics and all 3 test you will be invited to an assessment day, you will be given a bunch of tasks & interviews and scored numerically on each one, the highest scorers get job offers.

People who do placement years their get an easier ride onto the graduate program but you need to go through a similar process to get one of them anyway.
