Yes years back when I was in school. Cannot remember, it is funny how things that were so important back then don't even matter at all now. I vaguely remember getting bronze once and silver once and nothing the other times I took part in that maths challenge, but unsure which level maths challenge I was doing.

In year 7 I got best in school then didn't put my name on the kangaroo paper.
In year 8 I got best in school and did Olympiad then got distinguished on that (top 250 out of the 100 people who do that).
In year 9 I got best in school and did Olympiad again but with Covid-19 I didn't get my results for that.

In year 8 I did the team maths challenge and my school came third in the first round.
In year 9 I was going to do the team maths challenge again but it was cancelled.

(Year 9 was intermediate maths challenge though not junior).

I never did the Junior challenge but I took the Intermediate three times.
First attempt - nothing. Second attempt - also nothing but my teacher said I hadn’t answered enough questions. I mistakenly believed you had marks deducted for EVERY wrong answer, when in fact that happens on the second half of the paper.

So on my third and final attempt I answered more questions which included guesses in the first half (probably lucky guesses if I’m honest) and I got a bronze

I quite agree, in fact I'm just investigating whether there's a link between x!+y2 =z2 and I'm just looking at whether it's a coincidence or not the examples I've found.

Good problem. I seem to remember there is only one solution to the similar problem
n! = y^2 + z^2
