housing benefit, childtax credit and full time study

Hi,
need advice we are a couple with 2 child. claiming housing benefit and child tax credit only one person working and other take care of child. now want to go full time study in uni(person who earning means no income except benefit). question is what will be the affect on housing benefit and child tax credit. does maintainance loan and bursary will count as a income ?

please need advice.

Yes it is counted as income
The first £110 is disregarded
Then it’s taken off £1 for £1
So it’s unlikely you’ll be left with any, depending on your circumstances

I forgot to say you’ll need to split it between your term dates and assessment periods to work out the monthly rate
Firstly find your term dates and see how many assessment periods they effect
Divide your uni income by this amount (usually 9)
For example mines about 12,000 spread across 9 assessment periods so 1333. Minus the 110 disregard is £1223 which is higher than my UC claim so I don’t get any

Child benefit will not be affected
Im pretty sure as it will be a change of circumstances you’ll need to switch to universal credit, if not then the same thing will be applied to your tax credits and HB

In summer holidays you’ll get your usual UC payment pre uni
