I'm currently doing applied science BTEC (second year) and I'm predicted a D*D*D* (DDD if I end up doing bad this year).
The problem is the year before last I did an AS in physics and got a U so I'm kinda worried that even if I do get the D*D*D* the U will have a big impact.

so my question is how much do universities care about this and would it have a big effect.

What subject are you applying for? If its not directly related to Physics then that AS is not going to have much impact.
They will be far more interested in your BTEC grades.

I'm going to level with you, chief, it's pretty bad, I think it's the worst grade you could get. But I think they'd take far more interest in your BTEC grades, as that's the most recent reflection of your academic ability.

BTEC Applied Science?

As long as you meet the entry requirements for the courses you have chosen (BTEC and GCSEs) the it shouldn't be a big drama.
