Hi guys,

I'm on a gap year and working out where I'd like to apply to read English Literature - I achieved A*A*A*A at A level and I'm wondering about second year entry at Glasgow. The requirements are apparently A*AA, but does anyone know how competitive this actually is? Is second year entry hard to catch up on? Does it/the uni as a whole look impressive to employers?

Thanks everyone 🙂

So you have already completed a first year somewhere else, and then taken a gap year?

If instead you took A levels last year, then you cannot 'negotiate' 2nd year entry just because you think you are 'clever'.
Its a three/four year course - you have to do the whole course.
(That would be a bit like asking to only do the second year of A levels because you got A*s at GCSE, think about it.)

No. That's not what my post says. I got my A levels August 2020. I am taking a gap year and looking to apply to uni for 2021 entry. It is a 4 year course but you can apply for advanced entry directly into second year, thus completing the course in 3 years. Do you have any advice?
