I personally didn't like any apps, I created a spreadsheet and managed money that way. I basically just tracked all of my purchases and colour coded them. Green = necessary purchase (e.g. food). Red = unnecessary purchase (e.g. clothes). At the end of each month, I totalled up how much money I spent in each category. It was quite eye opening and definitely helped me reconsider spending money on things I didn't need, as each purchase really did add up. It helped me save a lot of money.
