a train has 8 coaches, some of which are first class coaches and the rest are standard class coaches. a first class coaches seats 48 passengers, a standard class 64 passengers.
the train has a seating capacity of 480 .
how many standard class coaches does the train have?

first class coaches = x
std class = 8-x
first class seatings total = 48(x) = 48x
st class seatings total = 64(8-x) = 512 - 64x
total seatings = 480
48x +512 - 64x = 512 - 16x = 480
16x = 512 - 480 = 32
x = 32/16 = 2
first class coaches = x = 2
std class coaches = 8 - x = 8 - 2 = 6

I expanded 64 (8-x)
And 64 x 8 = 512
