g is the acceleration due to gravity, and it does not depend on whether or not you are in vacuum. It depends only on the local gravitational field strength. The gravitational force on an object of mass m is mg

In practice the net downward force on a falling object will differ from mg as a result of air resistance:
F_{net} = mg - D
where D is a drag force. The drag force will in general depend on e.g. the speed and geometry of the object and the properties of the gas it is falling through.
