My mates family gave me a £10 gift card for my birthday and my mum just spent it then put the tenner in my account even though I wanted it because I could have put it towards some new shoes or something

I mean she shouldn't have spent it without your permission but at the same time she did replace the value, so it's no harm done really.

Me - you didn't put a question mark in the title .

But, even though she spent it, you shouldn't be bothered. You've got the money back.

No worries.

I get that, however you'd have more of a basis to be annoyed, angry and upset if she didn't pay you back.

Pretty *****y of her to spend it without asking you first even if she did return the money. It doesn't even make sense that she used the gift card if she had the same value available in cash.

Your mother had no rights taking it, but at least she returned it. You probably wanted the gift card, but you still got to keep the same amount of money.

legal perspective, if your under 16, your parents can do what they want. over 16, you have control, however theyre looking out for your best interests
