The VI in many ways I would argue, is easier than a traditional interview. Having a minute to prepare an answer is a gift not given in a face to face scenario. Plus, in many VI interviews the questions are almost identical and so, if rehearsed, one can give a more idealistic answer. Good performers in face to face interviews are likely to perform well in VIs. The VIs can also serve well to those who are less comfortable in a face to face setting because you're shielded from the possible negative cues you get from an interviewer which often throw candidates off.
If I had it my way, I would much prefer a face to face interview because personality (which is better showcased irl) can pay off an interviewers subconscious and increase you're likelihood of attaining the job. If ya know what I mean. But hey, VIs will suffice.
