Yes, not really sure why you'd want to.

My ex used to always do that, it’s nice when you cba to chat much but depending on restaurant layout it can be awkward if it looks like you’re just staring at everyone and there’s nowhere else to look

went on a date last week, sat side-by-side. We did already know each other quite well though so I guess it feels more personal? like less interrogative, if that makes any sense?

I don't find it weird, but I would automatically sit face to face at dinner if there were just two of us with anyone not just a date. It just feels more social and easier to talk to them

Nope never could I have a date side by side , maybe for me it would seem rude, like I'm not focused on them... And when I mean rude disrespectful towards them

Why would you? Seeing someone's face and their body language is a big part in getting to know a potential partner, you really cant do that sitting side by side.

Not natural because its nice to face who you are talking to.
That said its precautionary to do so in the current environment. If the table is large enough then you can sit at diagonals or if it gets too much then just move them into your bubble and get rid of a flatmate.

yeah it’s weird. dining experience is across from each other. if you tried to sit beside me in a restaurant in my head i’d ask why you were doing it.

Do lewd things to your partner when they sit next to you!

This is the point of life.

It's probably better tbh, as it's harder to escalate or kiss the woman when sitting across from each other.....

I think it's really sweet and shows you are close enough to break the rules and care more about being near each other.
