Do you need a textbook for the extended essay?

Would you say that a textbook for writing the extended essay? And if yes, then which one?
I don't think anyone at my school used one. Certainly I didn't.
It depends what you do your EE on...some topics for some subjects you may need or want to refer to some textbook to learn some concepts beyond the IB curriculum that you plan to use in your EE. Others you may not need to do so. You will be expected to use relevant secondary and primary sources and properly reference them. This does not necessitate those secondary sources be "textbooks" per se however.
