hi,

just wanted to ask ppl since I feel in an odd situation
I've been meeting quite a few people throughout freshers given coronavirus is going on but it's obviously much harder than normal... especially given we can't really go to other people's accommodations etc like u could in other years.

i haven't found anyone I've properly gelled with yet. don't get me wrong, there's a few okay people, but I'm really not feeling like I have a solid mate yet, and it concerns me because I feel like after freshers (given the situation) it's just going to become harder to meet people

I've been out literally every night drinking and chatting to as many people as possible but still having this problem. i don't feel like I'm attracting many people like me

is anyone else feeling like this? any advice? i was thrown into a uni I wasn't too keen on coming too and wonder if it's just the uni and the people it attracts that has messed me up or what

Could be the uni
Luck
Where you are looking.
Your social skills

Why not put up some notices advertising yourself and saying you are keen to meet new people then do some blurb about likes, dislikes and what you have to offer. There will be lots looking for friends, but it does get harder. Only in the first few weeks are they all open to being friends.

Have you tried joining any societies you may be interested in? This was the best thing I did in terms of the social life! I didn't make that many friends during freshers, it took until after Christmas to have a proper group, but second year was where I made a lot of people I've become super close with, so it can take time! Just keep socialising with whoever you can, as for me, I made friends and then was introduced to their friends etc etc, and this was how I found my actual close friends. Not everyone finds their best mates in their flats or in freshers.

Most of the people I spoke with in the first fortnight of uni I hardly ever spoke to again. The suggestion about societies is a good one.
