When you have your candidate statement of entry, it will have your full name spelt correctly - no worries.

After you done your GCSE exams at the end of year 11, you will get your certificates at the beggining of year 12.

When you arrive at uni, you might need to show the certificates as proof.

What if you want to change the name to be put on the certificate?
Not sure. You could ask the exam officer about changing your name on the certificate. Why do you want to to do that anyway?

I got my certificate a couple of weeks ago, which was a week before the end of term 1 of year 12. My old school had a ceromony giving out the certs and welcoming students (like me) who had transferred to another school to collect it or else they'd just post it. Unis may ask you for it, but i doubt employers will unless you don't go to uni or do any form of higher education. It just has the date, my first and last name, the school and my subjects and grades.

I'm really confused about it... because none of us have gotten our certificates, and there was no award ceremony. Blah. We even all had to pay £2 or something so they could be sent to us, but I don't know anyone at my old school that actually got them.

Don't worry about not having an award ceremony- if it was anything like mine, you didn't miss much! All they did was hand them out and we went home- no speeches, no refreshment, no entertainment of any sort- so we might as well have just had them sent to us. You should ring up the school after Christmas and ask if they've been sent yet.
