If we go into lockdown, how do us students make friends?

Uni Of Herts student here!! If we go into lockdown and first year University students have to have online lectures. How do we make friends through those? I don’t live in dorms and having online lectures worry me to the extreme as I feel I will go back the second year lonely.
Join 'virtual societies' and be prepared to have a load of online 'friends' who probably won't be that good to get along with in person.
Making friends online is far easier nowadays thanks to social media. I would hit up random freshers who follow Herts freshers' instagram accounts (if they exist!), and get talking. Ideally, even with online uni, there should be some way for people to meet up outside. If so, say you're organising a meet-up of freshers and that you have 3 people so far (lie if need be, until that becomes true). Get together and, give it enough time in a park, and one of them WILL become a good friend.
