If you use google there are plenty of maps of the campus.

Once you know the postcodes of your start and destination you can use this planner to see how long it will take walking or otherwise.

Halls are in different parts of the city.
Sheffield has more than one major hospital so it depends where your placement is be it at Hallamshire or NG plus where you live as I believe it would take longer if you lived further away from a placement than someone who lived closer?

Hi there!

Current student here! It depends where you are living but from Endcliffe and Ranmoor into town is about 25-30 mins walk or you can get the bus in for £1 with your Ucard. All the uni buildings are around a 10 minute walk from each other.

Let me know if you have any further questions and I'd be happy to help!

Hi @tabbypodger,

The majority of university buildings are located on our central campus. This is highly walkable, with many sections recently pedestrianised and the majority of buildings being within 5-10 minutes of each other. Our timetables have a 10 minute gap between teaching sessions to enable you to walk across campus if necessary. As both @999tigger and our lovely student rep Emily have already said, Sheffield has a great public transport network that is really affordable for students.

If you were to study medicine, our teaching is split between the Royal Hallamshire Hospital (on the edge of central campus) and The Northern General Hospital in the North of the city. There is a hospital shuttle bus that runs regularly throughout the day between these sites, which is free to ride when you show your student UCard. If you were to have a placement outside of the main hospital sites (such as at a GP) you should be able to get a bus or SuperTram for a relatively low cost. Some medical students will also arrange their own car sharing schemes between them or get the bus together - a great way to get to know your course mates

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi there,

Sheffield has three universtiy-owned accomodation options: Endcliffe, Ranmoor, and City. Endcliffe is around a 15-20 minute walk from the Student's Union, which can be considered "the heart" of the university campus. Ranmoor is around 25 minutes from the SU, whilst the City accomodation is around 10 minutes from the SU.

With respect to medical students, your placements may be at any of several hospitals in South Yorkshire so your travel time will vary - especially if you are taking public transport instead of private transport.

Have you got any other questions?
