After 8 years of dominance by Mercedes and Hamilton, we have massive massive rule changes for this year which could drastically change the pecking order. Originally, there was going to be a complete overhaul of the sport in 2021 in order to make it more affordable and cars able to race closer together however, COVID screwed it up. Whilst the cost cap was still retained for 2021, the new technical changes will come into effect this year.
The major changes area return to ground effect cars for the 1st time since 1982, in addition to a ban on the extravagent suspension, bargeboards and cutout floors from 2017-2020. Also F1 will finally be switching to 18 inch rims (up from their 13 inch rims) and a completely new compound of tyre after Pirelli was forced to use the 2019 tyres for 3 years in a row due to negative feedback about the original 2020 tyres...and COVID. more parts will be standardised and in an effort to even the playing field, the aerodynamic handicap system introduced in 2021 will be more severe in 2022, with each team gaining 5% extra time to design their car the lower they finished in the 2021 championship. This means mercedes will only be allowed 28 hours a week to design their car and the last placed team will be allowed 46 hours a week to design their car,
As Honda is pulling out at the end of 2021, who will the rb teams use?
I mean Renault is the obvious one especially if the FIA forces their hand, cant imagine Mercedes would want to supply them. I hope we get a 4th engine supplier perhaps someone could buy the Honda F1 engine division that way the R&D isnt wasted but no one obvious has stepped up yet.

Re the 4th. I predict rb or mugen taking over hondas pu efforts if rumours true, otherwise I'd agree with renault

With the costcap coming in, it might free up a bit more cash for RedBull to put into PU development as well potentially...
Just have to wait & see. Cant help but think what a waste after spending so many years making that engine competitive to finally get close to the front only to pull out.
Personally id replace imola with mugello, catalunya with portimao, Singapore with turkey and get rid of monaco alltogether
Yea, I like all 3. I know money and long term contracts dictate the calendar but it would be great to see F1 perhaps go to certain tracks every other year to bring in a more track excitement. Its a shame Mugello, Hockenheim, Nurburgring, Istanbul, Malaysia, kyalami... cant find a way onto the grid in some capacity. The pandemic showed a really great upside to variation in track selection (and using traditional racing tracks produces much better racing).
Monaco is becoming an ever bigger headache, it was always hard to overtake but the last generation of cars have made it horrendous, and cars are only getting bigger & wider (and monaco doesn't exactly play to the benefits of ground effect anyway). If F1 is playing around with having different Grand Prix structures at different weekends, maybe F1 needs to do something similar for Monaco, qualifying can be pretty entertaining but the only Sunday drama is normally if and when someone punts it in a barrier or rain forcing everyone to pit rather then great racing.

The main reason fe can race well in monaco is because the cars are a foot narrower than current f1 cars and a staggering 5 ft shorter than the 2021 merc / AM and 1.3m shorter than the 2022 cars.
Ideally f1 should go for max length of 5 or 5.1 m if they are sticking with 2m wide cars beyond the 2022 rule set. If going for 1.9 m wide , they should be about 4.8m long

With you on Catalunya, had more than enough chances and doesnt really ever deliver. Imola was decent last year to be fair and I really liked Mugello. Cant we have both lol. The only thong Singapore has going for it is the fact its a night race, otherwise it wouldn't be an exciting prospect. Monaco has been dull recently. impossinle to race there
