I may be wrong on illiott. The announcement states something like Indy is out the reach of the FDA to help him so it may be a case of not now but you can come back

Essentially it's like a gap year from my understanding in the sense that he is indy this year but has an option of returning next year (most likely for hypercar or sim work)

Speaking of hypercar, who do you see joining it?

I reckon James calado, davide rigon, allesandro pierguidi and maybe same bird are in with a good shout along with gio, Schwarzman and maybe Ilot

I could see Gio ending in the HyperCar. Maybe Robert S but he might be being groomed for the Maserati fe seat. Per Guidi and calado have to have a shot given their work in Ferrari GT

Robert and gio in fe for 23 whilst doubling up ferrari hypercar?

Also dunno why but I have a sneaky suspicion the ferrari hypercars will be car 27 and 28 (alternatively 11 and 12)

I really hope the deal between Merc and FIA isn’t actually true. For starters what did Tombazis do wrong exactly, he had nothing to do with Abu?

EDIT read the article again and it seems that toto will drop any action if Masi and Tombazis are sacked. Tombazis is the fia head of single seater motorsport. I think toto want Tombazis gone as merc have been disadvantaged a lot by last years regs.

So the whiny man won't come back unless he can throw his toys out of the pram. Good riddens I say.

Also it turns out Rosberg was offered the Hamilton COVID drive to season's end.

I don't believe the rosberg replacing Lewis rumours 1 bit.
What I do know however is that Lewis threatened to quit after Barcelona 2016 (even though he took out himself and rosberg...) and when rosberg retired, the merc board 1st thought Lewis had quit before they were told it was rosberg.

I reckon this is publicity tbh but if he does quit f1, then ocon or bottas will replace him (rumours point to ocon) but in either case, piastri gets a seat, with gio or Schwarzman being in line for alfa

It seems 1 team refuses to let mandatory rookie running in fp1 sessions.

Rather surprisingly it's, Aston Martin refusing to do so
I could see Hamilton going if the outcome of the FIA investigation isn't productive, IE. removing the idiotic overriding "race director has control of the safety car" clause. I don't see why Massi going or staying would be a pre-requisite of Merc dropping their appeal. Massi could stay and the issue be resolved, or he could go and exactly the same thing could happen again. It's a procedural issue more than anything.

No chance whatsoever that Rosberg will come back. I'd put more money Hulkenberg than Niko. But as above, Merc would just buy Occon or Bottas out of their current contracts.

Lol why? To be honest who’d they use, that goes for all teams really

Merc use vesti I say
Ferrari and Haas use Robert S
McLaren use Pato
Red bull and AT use possibly Vips kr Lawson
Alpine use Piastri
Alfa use Pouchaire
?

Vesti isn't that impressive tbh. His 2nd season in f3 was very lackluster imo

Re ferrari, the could also use Fuoco as well as Bobby S and wouldn't be surprised to see Bearman testing a car at the end of year if he wins f3
Sky sports reported several teams have expressed concerns with Masi (some before Abu Dhabi). Whilst it seems his position may be untenable I don’t know who else could replace him & id imagine promoting from within race control isn’t exactly great solution to resetting & improving as ultimately that was the same group of people who helped make the in race decisions all season.
Marcin Budowski is leaving Alpine with immediate effect

I think, more than anything, masi needs support and people with him rather than be thrown under the bus, I’d stop broadcasting the fia radio and have some sort of ******** filter. Someone before masi who can filter out all stuff the race director doesn’t need to hear. For example from this filter out Wolf’s Barcelona message about Mazepin and complaining about the Abu Dhabi decison, filter out anything after the penalty from red bull in sikverstone etc. but things like can you take a look at this go through to Masi and then onto the stewards

I’m with you on Mercedes, I’d say they punt for Ocon or Bottas to come back, if that fails then why not try for Sebby?

I think that’s beyond the pale, regulation changes always Impact the team at the top the most potentially, that’s how they work.

I had much more issue with the various safety decisons than anything else, such as the time it took to deploy the SC in Baku for example (I think I posted about all of these in the old thread). I’m not annoyed at him for seemingly inconsistent penalties given for driving standards as he ultimately isn’t making that decision and it’s not fair to go for him for this.

But yeah no obvious replacement, the WEC guy might be good but would he want to do it. Masi needs more support and a number 2 rather than being thrown under the bus

Agreed. The way toto is belly aching is worse than ferrari in 00s and rb in 2014
