TSR Weekly News Quiz: 2020 News in Emojis (Week 8)

2020 News in Emojis

I'm back running the quiz this Saturday evening (3rd October)! We're going back to a live quiz, kicking off at 8pm UK time.

We're going to do something different this week: each of the ten questions will be a string of emojis, representing a news story from some point in 2020. Your task is to identify the news story.

I've tagged everyone who's taken part in previous quizzes (I think). If you know you won't be able to make the quiz, then please let me know and I'll take you off the quote list that I'll use on Saturday.

In the meantime, I'll let you debate whether the plural of emoji is emoji or emojis, because I have some views on this matter.

Emoji is already plural, the singular is emojus.

Why emojus? I've not seen that anywhere.

Yep, I'll be asking you to identify the emojōs, and the meaning of the emojōrum!
A reminder that this quiz will be happening (live!) in an hour and a half, at 8pm tonight! As usual, I'll be releasing questions about every five minutes until we've gone through all ten.

Answer by posting your answers in the thread, using a spoiler please! If you come late or are otherwise not answering completely live, please make it clear which question you're answering (as it will be quite important this week!).

The quiz will close at 10pm, after which I'll post answers and announce the standings. You can still play after that, but you can't compete for the rep prize!

I've tagged everyone who's played one of these before. If you can't make tonight and don't want to be tagged, please let me know and I'll take you off my tag list for tonight!
