X-RAYS

Many Thanks in advance!

Give 2 ways you can increase the intensity of x-rays produced by the tube?

I put Current. Didn't know for the second one.

Mark scheme says increase Potential Difference across tube - I thought that just increases the acceleration, therefore velocity of the electrons, so when they collide they just transfer more KE, so higher energy x-rays are produced.

Correct me if I'm wrong and help please!!

as you increase the potential difference, you do increase the current (number of electrons), but it's not easy to just "increase current" other than by raising the supply voltage (as" impedence" of target is more or less fixed)
focussing, with magnetic optics, similar to collimating(beam scraping) can give a relative increase by narrowing the spot on the target

Many thanks for the simple yet enlightening answer!
