Wth is this?

I've been looking on the internet and most of the pages confuse the crap out of me, would anyone please give me a short explanation of it?

The rate of diffusion is directly proportional to the membrane surface area and the concentration gradient and is inversely proportional to the membrane thickness.

The above can be summarised in the following formula:

Rate of diffusion is proportional to (Surface area x difference in concentration) / thickness of surface exchange.

Basically Ficks Law revolves around 3 factors that affect diffusion -
1. The concentration Gradient
2. The surface area
3. The thickness of the exchange surface.
